These are standard size posters and are the bulk of collecting posters.
UK Quad unique to the UK measuring 30"x40" and are of landscape design. Usually sent to the theatres rolled but most of these posters were archived folded.
US One Sheet A standard size that is predominatly international used for the most part in North America, South America, Australia and New Zealand and now more frequently in Europe. Usually measuring 27"x 40", portrait in design. Variations would be the US 30"x40", same shape but usually on heavy stock and used for drive-in theatres.
US Insert unique to the US these posters would be used primarily inside the theatres and often would have difering art than the main one sheet. Measuring 14"x36". Inserts were phased out of use around 1983. There are many reproduction Inserts being sold as originals particulary on on-line auction sites, titles to be wary of include, Blade Runner, Raging Bull, The Shining, The Godfather and various other films of this era.
US Window Card 14"x22", window cards would be used mainly in storefront windows advertising the film at the local cinema, being phased out of use in the mid 1970's.
Other sizes would include US 60"x40" Bill Board size posters and Subways, three sheet posters measuring 402X80".
Of course film posters are produced all around the world. Sizes vary as much as the posters from the UK and USA, common items such as the Australian Day-Bills 13" x 30" which come almost always folded twice and European posters such as those produced in France which were produced as large as subway size.
